A truly unique vintage cinema seat refurbished to create a bold, brave statement chair, one of two seats originally featured at Clerkenwell Design Week.
This cinema seat is part of our Orange Otter Originals series - vintage cinema seats with a fresh twist. Although the original has sold, it can be recreated to order.
This single cinema seat teams a zingy carmine velvet fabric with black powder coated cast iron fixings. We have finished this special chair with a unique hand painted stripe design to the seat base, with matching painted highlights to the inside edges of the seat back.
The curved back wraps around you and the deep sprung seat add further comfort to the beautiful 1930’s Art Deco style. These cinema seats were designed to be sat in for long periods.
This cinema chair has been through our usual refurbishment process:
- strip, repair and refinish the wooden back, arms and seat base to reveal the lovely wood grain
- clean, shot blast, prime and powder coat the cast iron legs and seat brackets
- repair and replace the internal upholstery and padding as needed with equivalent natural and fire retardant materials
- finish the seat and back in a beautiful fire retardant velvet
- reassemble and fix to a painted wooden board

Single vintage cinema seat in eye popping carmine fabric
The theatre seats we work with are originally from the 1930s/40s and have been salvaged over the years from theatres as they get renovated. They have had a good life before we get our hands on them so will never look brand new or have a factory-perfect finish. There will be imperfections and ageing, but that's what makes each one unique and special. We always choose our pieces carefully, so they will last for many years to come.
